A little of this and that!

We are getting excited about Christmas here!  Jack is loving Snowflake the Elf this year and overall just seems to get the idea of Christmas more than ever.  It's been a lot of fun.  He is a very strong willed child and with that being said has refused to wear this cute reindeer shirt mama got him.  He finally for whatever reason wore it Monday and I thought he looked so cute!

This is me today, I got the house cleaned, a quick run in and a few of Abigail's teacher gifts put together.  I've still got a lot to do though!  Oh and if you look behind me on the rail you will see Snowflake and the reindeer sliding down, that's where they ended up last night!  Oh the shenanigans these two have gotten into lately!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had a glitzy fun wreath on my front door for the past few years but decided this year to go very simple.  I got this from Costco for $15 and had the bow made for $10.  It smells so good, fresh cedar and in mind there is nothing any more Christmasy than that!  :)  I'll just use this bow for years to come, I'm really going more plain this year.

And here's our tree with Abigail posing by it!

Tis the season!!!!

Thankful.

Abigail before her field trip to Jamestown!

Here she is doing some homework on the computer!

Robert and I had a date night recently.  The children stayed with my parents and while our night did not go at all as planned we had a really great time!  We had all intentions of checking out some live music, having some dinner and enjoying a night out. We realized we had not been out in a while and we'll have to try that another time.  We ended up having Southwind pizza and salad on the couch while watching a movie, it was a fun night!

Jack Jack before school one morning. :)

And me on my way to the Y one morning! :)

Growing up I spent some very memorable times with my Aunt Carolyn in Richmond.  We would meet in West Point and I would spend the weekend with her.  I treasure those memories of roller skating, shopping and basically whatever I wanted to do! Abigail is spending the night with her tonight and it warms my heart beyond measure.  She will watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade at her house tomorrow morning and come to Mathews with her late morning!

I am cooking Thanksgiving lunch this year so wish me luck!!!!!!

happy thanksgiving!

Together.

Before I begin on all the fun things that have been happening around here I feel compelled to share something.  I think with the terrorist attacks that took place in Paris on Friday and with the holidays approaching a lot of people are feeling troubled.  I was given a personal Promise Bible a month before Abigail was born 8 years ago and I found it recently in my bedside table. I love this scripture.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear for my children because fear has torment.  If my children fear, they are not made perfect in love.  We love You because You first loved us.
1 John 4:18-19

Here is Abigail on her way to dance Thursday!

This picture does not do Thursdays sunset justice.  It was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.

I have to brag for a bit!  Abigail is doing exceptionally well this year in school.  I am so very pleased.  This is just one of the awards she received last week.

Robert and I took the children to the movies Saturday night to see the Peanuts Movie!  This was Jack's first time in a theater and he did great!  The movie is in 3-D and while he wasn't a fan of the glasses he very much enjoyed the popcorn and snacks!

Abigail loved it!

My precious niece Adalean is growing, loved spending time with her Sunday afternoon.  Here she is in her Mimi's arms.

Above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

just another saturday night......

We have had some sickness here this week.  Abigail seems to be feeling better and now Jack is sick.  Abigail had strep throat and I fear her brother now has it.  We will definitely have this checked out tomorrow.  I just hope he sleeps through the night.

Here we are at Urgent Care Wednesday morning, Jack just had to sit up on the table with his sister.  Abigail felt so miserable that I opted to go to Urgent Care opposed to her normal doctor because it's closer.  We were in and out of there in no time, picked up her prescription, grabbed some ice cream and Gatorade and were home in no time.

Mimi came over this week and brought the children their Christmas pajama's for this year.  I love Abigail's and she also has a matching set for her American girl doll.

And this is how I roll when our world temporarily stops, new soap for the bathroom makes me very happy!!!!!!  I use pump soap in the kitchen and the children's bathroom but a bar of soap in our bathroom.

And new "fall" nail polish makes me even happier.  I've really been into Essie lately but loved this burgundy by Loreal, the name is Liya's Red!

And this is me, fresh out the shower.  I don't think I've ever posted a picture of me on my blog with no make up and wet hair up in a towel but here it is!

Here's to hoping everyone is better soon!

Cinderella and The Train Conductor!

Halloween - 2015

Our Halloween festivities kicked off with Jack's fun pre-school party!  Mimi (mama) went on Abigail's field trip to Green Hand Farm, no pictures but they had a lot of fun!

They sang songs and danced around the stage!  We laughed right hard, so darn cute!!  Ms. Leslie and Ms. Rachel are really awesome, Jack loves both of them so much.

Here they are before we left home!  Would you look at that smirk on Jack's face, OMG this boy!!!!!   Mimi and Pop's came over and brought them their Halloween bags!  So fun!

Love my wreath, my dad bought that for me!  :)

Grandmama, Abigail and Jack!
She had special treats that she had made up for each great grandchild.

We checked out the haunted trail at Thomas Hunter Middle School!  I'm so glad we did, they loved it, we saw some fun friends and it was kind of spooky!!! ;)

I adore this picture.

Mom, Abigail and Jack!  She gave each of them special gifts!

We ventured to Granddaddy's too, they love him so much.

We had a wonderful night and I was so excited to go to some of our favorite houses!  I think they have enough candy to last through next year!

Trick or Treat!

We had a really fun weekend!  It was full of happiness and cool temperatures and sweet reminders that fall is here!  We are thrilled that Halloween is this weekend!  We have our costumes ready and Abigail and Jack could not be more excited!  Last year Jack was not into Halloween, he could have cared less to the point that he didn't even wear his costume! HA!  This year we've been reading our Halloween books and he seems really excited!

For the record my children are NOT into taking pictures these days.  So car shots where they are in their seats seem to be my best bet to get them in a photo lately!  I'm sure it's just a phase, atleast I hope!

Abigail has really been into looking at my old high school year books lately.  This has prompted a lot of questions and conversations about her dad and I.  Robert and I were in the same kindergarten class and we were also in the same circle of friends all throughout school but never dated.  This has been a lot of fun but I think it's time to put these up for a while! ;)

We visited my grandmother recently and sat out on her porch and talked!  Abigail and Jack love going to Gigi's, they always get treats and fun things to play with!  Uncle Ricky even joined us for a bit!!  :)

My precious Jack.

Layla was here last week since she was on fall break from school!  She came over Friday afternoon and we carved pumpkins Friday night.  This girl is something else, she carved this all by herself, I was totally impressed, she was really into it!  I love her so much.

Jack Jack!

Happy Halloween week! :)

Joy.

In reading a blog recently, actually Kellys Korner (the whole reason I started blogging in the first place) she was talking about Joy Bombs and I've always loved this kind of thing so I decided to blog about it myself.  What brings you real joy?  What are some of the things that make you happy to your core?  Please share in the comments, I would love to read them.

I love baking and sharing with the one's I love most.  I love making homemade chocolate chip cookies and then having them around to nibble on.  Since we try to stay healthy here there aren't many sweets in our house on a day to day basis so that's always a real treat.  I make my cookies big (like the one's we use to get at Coliseum mall right down from the Gap) remember those?  I also always use milk chocolate chip morsels.

I love running, that's no secret but I would run everyday if I could.  It naturally releases endorphins and it just makes me feel great.  I love to sweat and push myself to the next level.  I'm not saying every time I finish running I feel as if I have conquered the world but I do usually feel better than before I started!

I enjoy doing facials at home.  I love a cheap clay mask, I have really oily skin so I usually treat myself once every few weeks to one.  Abigail and Jack are use to it, they don't even bat an eye anymore when they see me walking around with green clay on my face! :)

Kelly said this and I had never thought about it this way but my children are my greatest JOY yet can be my biggest joy stealer at the same time.  Being a mom can be exhausting and running them to and from places, cleaning up messes, doing laundry, etc... can really take the joy out of you.  But at the same time I love them so much that there is nothing else I would rather be doing.  How does this even make sense, but it just does!

Music is a huge joy bomb for me.  It's in my roots and I love to have music on while I'm cleaning, that's only if I'm home alone, I listen to my IPOD while I run and I love live music.  I also always have the radio on while driving!  I love it when all three of us know the same song, fun fun!

Shopping is a huge joy bomb too!  Finding a dress or top that fits just right feels so good!

These are just a handful of mine, what are yours?
